Shell Island 605 is the perfect condo for your beach vacation or weekend get away. This one bedroom efficiency is on the 6th floor of Shell Island Resort on the secluded North End of Wrightsville Beach. The unit has two full beds in the bedroom, and a sleeper sofa in the living room. There is a spacious full bathroom with bedroom access, and an adjoining half bath with hall access. The living space has a flat screen TV, dining for 4, and a kitchenette with a mini fridge, microwave, and stove top.
Shell Island Resort has all the amenities your family could need! There is an indoor pool, and outdoor pool, a hot tub. There is also a sand volleyball court, a fitness room, and on site restaurant. In the summer Shell Island Resort also offers activity rentals such as surfboard, boogie boards, and paddle boards, availability may vary. Make your reservation now before the unit is booked!

"I booked online for 10 nights and my deposit was accepted and my contract was signed and approved. I then received a call notifying me that summer reservations are only for Friday to Friday. I stated that that was an issue for Intracoastal Realty. Fortunately, the owners approved my extended reservation. We arrived in Wrightsville Beach at 2:00 AM. It took us half an hour to find the office at the Duneridge location, as there was not an easily displayed office sign and the parking lots are not well lit. The suite was clean and well-stocked with towels. However, there was a broken tile on the kitchen floor, which was a trip hazard and a toe stubbing problem. An outlet in the bedroom was without the outlet plate on it, the plate was on the floor. In addition, there were food crumbs in the bedroom, which I vacuumed up the next day. I notified the office on 7/10 and was told that maintenance would be told about the tile and the outlet plate. Neither were repaired during our stay. The refrigerator was not cooling properly, so I called the office and a replacement was immediately brought to the suite. Discounting those issues, and the in-need-of-an-update suite, I would book again with Intracoastal. "

"We had a difficult experience at Shell Island 605. The water smelled so bad we could not use it. At all. We were told by management to run the water for 20 minutes to empty the hot water heater. We turned it on for 1 minute and got sick to our stomachs from the smell. It smelled more like sewage (not just your usual sulphur beach water). We have stayed at Shell Island many times (different units) and Wrightsville Beach many times every year and never experienced anything like this. We were worried for our kids and did not want to bathe them or let them in contact with the water. We brushed our teeth with bottled water. We only stayed one night and left early because it was unmanageable and we needed clean water to bathe."

Beach water is common for the area and the quickest way to clear the odor is by running out the hot water. We suggest shutting the bathroom and turning on a fan to vent the smell. "Registration process with Intercoastal was cumbersome. For example, after sending in the contract, I continued to receive requests to do so, and had to call to make sure it was received. There should be amap of where the Intercoastal office is on the contract. A parking permit should be included in the materials received from Intercoastal.
Only one key for 605 worked. The water in 605 smelled so strongly of sulpher that in was not drinkable.
The availability of someone on the phone at Intercoastal was very helpful."

"My daughter and I stayed at Shell Island 25 years ago when she was 5 years old. The view is still fabulous and the private beach is the best. But the hotel rooms do not appear to have been updated since our last visit. Indoor pool looked dated and dirty. Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. However, the restaurant food and wait staff left a lot to be desired - should have gone into town to eat dinner.
And I paid close to $1000 for 2 nights here - last minute reservations kill you!! But Shell Island was the only ocean front room I could find for Memorial Day weekend. Will plan better next time. "

"This was our second stay at Shell Island Resort. This condo was great! Very clean. Staff was very friendly. Plenty of linens and toiletry items for the few days that we stayed. A couple issues to plan for. . . the smelly water (rotten egg), the hot water did not work in the kitchen sink, and the hot tub was malfunctioning and therefore closed during our stay. "

"overall Shell Island is a very nice place, right on the beach but the specific unit we rented #605 needs some updating. Bathroom fixtures were rusted and mirrors were corroding. Living area and bedroom was lovely with small balcony overlooking the ocean. "

"The location was amazing, the natural setting was beautiful. Walk around and into Mason's Inlet, gorgeous. The actual room needs updating badly. It appears as though everything but the rug and the couch was original. The water in the unit smelled pretty bad, not sure if that's a common issue with the water supply. I would highly recommend Intracoastal Realty, Ian was amazing and handled my "complex" reservation perfectly. I would however, book an alternate room. If you haven't been to Wrightsville Beach or the surrounding areas, I would highly recommend a visit. With tons of stuff to do, great food and an amazing beach, the place really can't be beat. Wilmington is a must see, very clean and hip."

"I have stayed at Shell Island 10 or more times. It's the perfect location due to being on the end of the island on the quiet side. There's no where else to stay in Wrightsville in my opinion. The only negative was the water in the shower and sinks smelled so bad like rotten eggs but I'd stay there again."

"Great location at the end of the island on the beach. Staff seemed pleasant and accommodating but did not request much from them. Place is older (over 30 years). While clean, there is a general need to update the appearance. The shower never had hot water. The units are small for what they are advertised to be. This unit was said to sleep six comfortably. Unless several are young children, or it is a group of college kids; that is not happening. Otherwise, a great stay. The beach is quiet and beautiful and Wrightsville Beach appears to be a well ordered and safe vacation area for the whole family. "
