"Great location, relaxing week. Kitchen has more than enough of the utensils and cookware you could ever need. Bought my own knives and can opener, but did not use them! Very well equipped. Would have enjoyed an additional sofa for family gathering time, and elevated chairs on the porch off of the family room for better beach viewing. Great rental! We will stay there again!

"The Wallace unit is a beautiful place to stay, both due to the interior and also the view and proximity to the beach. We discovered that the washing machine was not functioning; the plumber varified it the following day, and the next day a new washer was installed. Quick way to solve a problem!"
"The Wallace is a wonderful place to stay! Very spacious with a modern kitchen and great views. The access to the beach is super convenient and we even heard a live band from the Oceanic on Friday night. The only downside is the quality of queen beds, they were very uncomfortable-could probably use a nice mattress pad or something. We also noticed that the washing machine failed on spin cycle and left us with soaking wet clothes and towels. Overall, these were small inconveniences for a wonderful stay!"

"This was our 5th straight year of renting the Wallace for 2 weeks in August. However, our history goes back even further when many of our friend groups have been in and out of the Wallace since the early 1990's! Overall, it is a great experience and that's why we keep coming back. "

I think we are not the 'norm' since we flew in from out of state, but it would be great to have some beach chairs accessible. Everything else was really great. "

"Good location but as the following problems: lacks window treatments in kitchen and dining area, built in blinds in the sliding doors are noisy as every time someone walks across the floor they will move back and forth, (this is even true for the upstairs slider when someone walks across the floor downstairs), clothes dryer was in poor working order when we arrived and had to have maintenance work on it, unit was not ready at 4:00pm and had to wait to have it inspected, all bathroom electrical outlets were not working, (owner reset ground fault breaker and let us back intothe unit on Sunday as had locked ourselves out), the sliding glass doors can be accidentally locked when exiting, (this happen twice and did not figure out how/why this was happening until the second time), wifi was not working consistently and the router had to be unplugged a few times, the cable TV constantly went in and out while watching TV, ants were a problem mainly on the decks and a used greasy frying pan was put back into the cabinet without being washed.
Would not stay there again, had a great experience in unit A next door last year and would stay there again.
7/4 We hate to hear that a guest has problems with their stay. We will look into these issues and have them fixed. We always appreciate guests feedback so we can improve our units and services. CMM
"We were very pleased with the property and its location. The rooms were spacious and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to entertain our guests. The only problem we had (and we were able to work around it) was the downstairs bathroom had a broken toilet handle. The Wallace was a great place to stay as we celebrated our daughter's graduation from UNC-W."
"We stayed the last week of March, which is off-season, however, we would have still liked to have the unit prepared fully. The outside showers were off, so we couldn't rinse sand off our feet (the rental company did come over and turn them on after we called). There were no beach supplies-(umbrellas, chairs, towels, etc) available to us. We had to clean the bathrooms (perhaps the unit hadn't been rented in a while?). I have a feeling that the minor issues we had might have been not been a problem in peak season. "
4/21 Will be discussing these issues with housekeeping and maintenance. None of these items should have come up, they should have been caught during an inspection. Glad the guest still enjoyed the stay, we hope to have them back! CMM
"We believe that the unit needs more supervision as to the quality of furnishings and details. Some of the deck adirondack chairs are wonderful, but others are so cheap and flimsy that the back bends when you lean back on them. We needed to grill some steaks and there was no broiler pan in the kitchen. The master bedroom coverlet and shams have been there for quite some time, and I wouldn't imagine that the cleaning crew has time to wash and dry the coverlet between every renter? Extra blankets in the closets feel like cardboard and are very uncomfortable. Many times when we have arrived in the past, there have been broken items sitting around (a couple of those adirondack chairs for example) and we have to move them downstairs to get them out of the way so as not to endanger other people. A nice amenity would be for there to be some long wall coat racks installed in upstairs hallway and underneath deck for the hanging of beach towels to dry or what not. A little more attention to detail for the price of the rent paid would be appreciated!"
Good suggestions. They are correct in saying that the cleaners don't have time to do the coverlets every week, but when they are absolutely needed going forward we will be able to provide loaners while the true ones are being laundered. The hallway hooks for beach towels are a great idea, either underneath the house or on the back deck. We'll be assessing the conditions of the furnishings and extras this off season and making our recommendations for replacement if need-be. -MKR 8/29/13

"I have stayed at this property before and loved it! This time a was a little disappointed that the house wasn't ready when promised. We had to wait an additional 45 minutes, which doesn't seem like much. But when you have just finished a 12 hour drive it's alot!
I also had to call maintenance because of an ant problem.
Other than that, loved it!!!"
In the summer we strive to have every property ready as early as possible, but that can't always be the case. Check in begins at 4pm and is guaranteed by 6. We're glad these guests had another great vacation with us and certainly thanked them for their patience on check in day. -MKR 7/22/13
"We liked the place very much. It was the perfect size for our family of 7. The only negative about the house was that the bathrooms were dated, but they were still acceptable. It was a tad too close to Crystal Pier for me, but we still like that side of the island. Be aware that you can't get into the house without going up stairs. "

"We were appreciative of the upgraded dishware, pots/pans, wine glasses, etc. this year. Thank you. Our one maintenance issue was that the oven kept going off, and we had to keep jumpstarting the house fuse box to reset it. The maintenance people came very promptly, the second time along with Myra, a family member of the owner, and I believe the decision was that they might need to install a new master board on the front of the stove.
We have two wishes for the house:
1) Could you put a simple, inexpensive 9x12 seagrass area rug in the living room (may have to replace each year or so)to make it more pleasant to walk barefoot thru that main area & to control the sand?
2)Could you install 20 or so simple coat hooks below the house along the exterior wall on the narrow part of the carport? (closest to the beach side). It would be so great to be able to hang beach towels there when coming up for the day; they could dry in the breeze overnight, and if it rained, they would be protected under the carport. This would cut down on sand & stuff coming into the house, keep the place tidier at night, and cut down on the need to do beach towel laundry.Plus it is unsightly when all the towels are draped over the deck railings, both in front and back of the house to dry!

"The Intracoastal Staff is awesome! I had to change the week because my son is going to boot camp 3 days before our regularly scheduled week. They were wonderful to am emotional (to say the least) mom and saved the family vacation!
I love the Wallace. We have stayed in this unit for several years and we hope to go back next year.
There are several light bulbs out (especially in the driveway area, the outside shower was not functioning and the master bedroom mattress is pretty lumpy. Other than these small issues, the unit is very well maintained!"
