Shifting Sands

House is beautiful- but for the price it should’ve had more than two beach towels for 8+ people. I called management but never heard back. The cottage outside of the house, did not have a shower. It might’ve been better to have all the bunk beds for kids there instead of using the bedroom in the main floor-We were there for a wedding and two of the guests had to use the outdoor shower. The kitchen was well appointed. The rest was all good.

Thank you for your feedback! I apologize, we never received a message requesting additional beach towels, we would have been more than happy to deliver more, extremely sorry! Since the crofter is detached from the main home, would not feel comfortable putting bunk beds in that room. I apologize you were unaware of the outdoor shower for the crofter, we have it clearly listed in the description for Shifting Sands. We hope to see you back on the island soon! Thank you!

Air conditioning in crofter did not work, but property manager installed a window unit within 24 hours. Bathroom floors around toilets did not appear to have been mopped. Internet/cable service disrupted during weekend ball games. Golf club had member-guest tourney during our stay so we could not play golf on BHI. Tram service for pickup on Sunday to get off BHI was an hour late making it very close call to make departing flights out of Wilmington--we did make our flights, but had to skip stopping for lunch in Southport and still only reason we made our flight was a late flight departure out of Wilmington. However, every staff person, from ferry personnel to property managers was great, responsive, and knowledgeable.

Shifting Sands is a beautiful vacation home with ample room for a large family. It is a bit more dated than other homes we have rented but the views were magnificent. We had issues with the icemaker that the rental company was attentive to but never fixed - although they dropped a bag of ice off daily. Our golf cart gave us trouble and again was attended to but never properly fixed. Overall though
we had a great week!

The house was nice. It accomodated our needs fairly well. We did have an issue with the icemaker in the freezer not working, and some problems with the golf carts. We had to change out both, but the staff did a good job of getting us ones that worked. The last one did not have lights for driving at night. The hose is not new and had a couple of doors which were difficult to close.

Wonderful location. House functioned well for our family of 15. New grill and beach chairs were a plus. Also, kudos to the Bald Head EMT's. Unfortunately, we needed to call and they were professional in every way.
However, considering the rental rate and the increase from booking date, we expected a better equipped kitchen ( more than 1 dish towel, no dish drying rack, a dishwasher with wheels missing, refrigerator freezing food and an ice maker that produced little or no ice.)Dryer vent needs professional cleaning. All exterior door handles need maintenance as several fell off during our stay. Golf carts were not as advertised (1@6 & 1@ 4)
When we arrived there were 2 - 4 passenger carts instead of 1-6 & 1-4. We called and got a 6 passenger cart that was very old and in poor condition.

The house was perfect. The weather was perfect. The title of the house couldn't be more perfect. Tide pools from the house to the point the kids couldn't get enough of. Loved it all!

Fantastic place and everything was perfect for our needs. Beautiful view of beach/ocean especially from master bedroom on 2nd floor! Spacious rooms allowed plenty of room for all staying at house. Crofter room was great, just suggest installing shower inside to really make it 'in-law'/'outlaw' quarters. New grill and beach chairs we were able to enjoy using during the week. Really enjoyed our stay! And, Terry at Intracoastal was AWESOME to work with!!

Overall the house was great for most of what we needed; biggest let down were the beach chairs...few and what was there...rusted and broken. In addition, the grill was uncovered outside, rusted and unusable. This makes packing for the trip difficult, because if you want to grill a meal you just simply cannot. Expect more from a house of this caliber, but also can recognize they will likely revamp for busy season. Again, main concern is in relation to outside amenities. For a spring break and Easter trip, we expected better condition.

The rental was fine and in a great location. I think the description of the property could be better. The bedroom in the garage with the crofter bed had no shower and this was unexpected. In addition, the barbecue was undersized for the size of the house and the number of people.

We had the pleasure of renting Shifting Sands. The southern facing views providing an amazing array of beautiful views regardless of the time of day. Each night, we experienced the most amazing sunsets followed by a sky FULL of shining stars. Wow !

The home was beautifully appointed and providing an amazing, warm, at-home feel. Loved it !

As for BHI, simply amazing with a beautiful mix of beach, marsh, and wooded forest. Love BHI !

My family has been coming to BHI for years. Shifting Sands is one our favorite houses to stay because of the location and cleanliness. Intercoastal was very easy to work with on booking and check in.

Lovely house and location. Staff was accommodating and helpful. Had to wait a little longer than expected to move into the house, but not bad. House was very clean and well-prepared with essentials. The manager at the office was very helpful. Overall, we would recommend the rental agency to anyone.
