Recent Reviews About This Property

"Stayed at Ebbtide for 2 nights in mid May. The beach front location is fantastic and the screened in back porch with rocking chairs was great. There was maintenance issue while we were there, but the management was great at taking care of the issue and helping any way they could. "

"Our family really enjoyed our recent stay at the lovely Ebbtide house on Kure Beach. The location was perfect and the house was clean and very spacious. We will certainly look at staying there again in the near future. The staff at Intercoastal Rentals were very helpful and kind. The check-in/check-out procedure was a breeze. Thank you for helping us make our a vacation a great one!

"We loved the view, beach access and proximity to the boardwalk. The Ocean front porch is a great gathering place. Everything was clean. My wife found a few insects crawling about inside. And, there were a few discarded belongings of previous guests accumulated in the back of the carport. But, overall, a great place to vacation."

Percy H. from Cary, 09/24/2013

"A very nice stay. The only negative was your cost is more than the previous travel group. We try to rent this house each year for the same week. This year we paid more than we have with Bryant, Network and Jim Ring reality. We also were able to add on a couple extra days in the past for under $450 but your cost was significantly more. Next summer will be our 9th vacation to Kure with our family and friends. We are looking forward to it and staying in the same house. "

"Ebbtide was the perfect place for me to rent. I could sit in the kitchen, living room or lie in bed and watch and hear the ocean. I was there in the winter and early spring and loved hearing the ocean particularly at night. One day there could be 10 foot waves pounding the beach like thunder, but within just a few days the waves were blue and tender depositing serendipitous treasures. Each morning I was up before sunrise walking on the beach. Each day the ocean and beach provided new views with new ideas for writing and studying! Ebbtide was an easy place to work and live. The only suggestion for improvement is to put the washer/dryer in the house somewhere rather than the car port area. All in all a delightful place to be any time of the year. "

"Our family stayed at Ebbtide for a family beach week, and it was absolutely perfect. The three bedroom, open floor plan works great for multiple families. We loved the screened porch, easy access to the beach, and all the amenities were on point. We will definitely stay at Ebbtide again. "

"The property location was the best possible in the area - beach access directly from the back porch. The back porch spanned the width of the house, with sliding glass doors in the center and large doubles from the master bedroom and kitchen area. The house was very roomy with large open spaces in the living room and kitchen area overlooking the ocean. Perfect for large groups to visit.
The downside was that very little has been updated since the 1990's. For a week or shorter stay, it probably wouldn't affect you. However, if you are renting for a longer period of time it makes a difference in comfort. The linoleum floors in the kitchen and bathrooms always looked dingy even though I had washed them. Another long term drawback is the washer dryer area. It is under the house (not connected) and is very dirty with insulation falling down within the structure. I could never go in there at night -only during day light. So for cleanliness and general condition, I rated those two areas a 3.
I would still recommend it to others because the location is so perfect, - you can see the sun rise every morning from the bedroom, living room and kitchen. Beautiful! And the beach area is very private and peaceful! Perfect for writing and working alone.

"The view from the deck is spectacular and the water pressure in the shower was great. Unfortunately those are the only nice things I have to say about this house. It was definitely NOT worth the money to rent. The house has been poorly maintained, giant cockroaches in laundry room dirty ceiling fan, black mold around air conditioning vents. Maintenance came to fix a bed that we didn't know was broken but no one called to let us know he was coming. The man used his key to get in and scared my mother who is recovering from a broken leg and couldn't answer the door. I highly discourage anyone from renting this house. I will find a new rental agency if I decide to return to the area."

"EbbTide is vern nice but needs a few improvements. The back door on screened porch needs replaced. The screen was completely out of the door and it's rusted badly and won't open and shut easily. The outside water hose needs a shutoff on it so you don't have to go all the way underneath house to hose the sand off. Ceiling fans in all bedrooms would be nice. The house was spacious, clean and very nice other than those few items. We would definitely stay here again. "

Jonda C. from Jackson, 07/18/2017

"My family and I stayed at Ebbtide the week of July 23. While the accommodations were satisfactory overall, the house itself needs some maintenance. Bathrooms barely have paint on the walls, the screen porch door is falling off the hinges, the screen on the porch itself has several holes in it, and there were nails sticking out of the boardwalk to the beach along with several loose boards. We stayed in Ebbtide the summer of 2013 and it appears as though some aspects of the rental have not been touched in four years. Location is great, being on oceanfront is great, but a little elbow grease, paint and polish could go a long way toward making Ebbtide a more enjoyable stay for its renters."

"I will not stay at this rental again. Needs repairs to the home for the price you pay and everything should work AC failed for two nights. Looks like mold around air vents. Very disappointed "

Raymond C. from Moss Point, 07/09/2018

"We have rented places on the beach for nearly forty years. This place is one of the worst, if not the worst, place we have ever rented. First approaching it, we noticed how unkempt the premises were. Discarded lawn chair, broken gate to the beach access, etc. As we moved in, we couldn’t find the washer/dryer inside the unit. It turns out it was outside in a closet on the garage level. And a filthy closet at that. The equipment was covered in mold, there was something on the floor, etc. To be fair, the rental agent returned a very small amount of the rental to compensate for us having to drive to the laundromat every time we wanted to wash clothes. However, we were there for 17 days in mid-June, so it was a high traffic drive each time. There were no extra sheets for a rental of that length, and no cleaning supplies.
The whole place needs to be refurbished. The screened-in ocean-side porch had a screen door that wouldn’t lock or open easily. A chair there that had a nail sticking out. Inside was more of the same. The floor between the dining area and the living room area wasn’t even, so a scrap of carpeting was thrown over the joint. The (steep) outside stairway had no working light. Other light bulbs were dead or wrong.
The layout was weird. The large bedroom on the ocean side was not the master bedroom and to get to a bathroom, one had to walk through the living room. The (streetside) master bedroom was the only bedroom to have a ceiling fan, something essential in a hot humid climate. The kitchen layout wasn’t that usable. The refrigerator opens into a wall. There was no counter space available to put stuff down on. There was no table available besides the dining room table.
So why with all this wrong does it rate two-stars rather than one? The beach. The beach and its access from the house was as nice as we could want.

"I was very impressed with this property. I was very nervous because of a couple of past reviews but once there I was totally satisfied. The property was great. I did notice there were cleaning issues but was not anything that would change my opinion of the property. I felt that the cleaning staff was not doing the job it was hired to do. Carpets were totally not vacuumed. In fact, vacuum cleaners were so packed with dirt that there was no way it could have cleaned if it tried. We cleaned both vacuums and vacuumed the carpets. There were an ac vent in the living room and kitchen that both had mold from moisture. This was due to not being cleaned. That was the only issues I found. This to me is only a cleaning issue. The cleaning staff needs to be retrained or replaced. Absolutely loved the place otherwise. Would totally recommend it to others. "

"AMAZING! We've stayed at Carolina and Kure beach for years, this was THE best rental property! While I appreciate the strategy of past reviewers - Giving this property a bad review, in hopes that you'll have an easier time reserving in the future, I don't think that's fair to the owner. This rental has it all (including things I didn't know I wanted): Front screened porch - what an amazing way to have your morning coffee, just feet from the ocean; Large Floor plan - I knew it had 3 bedrooms, I didn't know how spacious they were, and the main living space created so much bonus family hang out time. Very clean (including the laundry room). While it could use some upgrades, this house was still amazing. "

"We had a nice relaxing stay at Ebbtide. We found the property to be clean and spacious. The screened porch was great because it rained our first full day and the kids had plenty of room to play on the porch during the morning downpours, and the view was awesome, as promised! The apartment neighbors next door were noisy thorough out the week unfortunately. At one point a grandma from the apartments was chasing her grandbaby up the enclosed steps to our front door, both were creating a racket at our door and seemed in no hurry to leave. Perhaps lattice work on that side might help keep uninvited guests and litter from the apartments from entering the parking area? Overall it was a good week and we enjoyed our stay."

from Thomasville, 08/21/2018

"Did you have a good overall stay? Yes.
Was the vacation rental in a great location? Absolutely. It is away from major traffic and right on the beach.
Was the home clean and in good shape?
This is the only area with complaints. We had a child and a toddler with us. I have pictures to show, but can't attach them here. There were rusty screws exposed in a rocking chair and on the screened porch supports. One of the kitchen chairs constantly had a leg coming loose. The cooking items are old and the non-stick is peeling making us unwilling to use most. There was very little in the way of cleaning supplies such as dish soap, d/w detergent and trash bags. We had to buy more. I would have made these comments privately, but this response does not allow that.
Was the vacation rental management staff helpful? We did not interact with mgmt except for check-in/out. They were quick and polite on both interactions."

Love Kuri and family time"

"Location is great, AC worked and the house is very spacious. A little dated and could use some overall refurbishing."

josh S. from Monroe, 06/22/2020

"Great location and perfect size for our family. Overall it was clean and we felt satisfied but we did experience some problems which is why I only rated it a three. We don’t need a lot of bells and whistles but I think there could have been a bit more in the house. No paper towels, only one extra roll of toilet paper, only two dishwasher pods, very old pots and pans. The pillows need to be replaced but overall the sheets were clean and the towels were clean and abundant. We had some issues w bugs and the property managers were horrible to deal with while we were there but it was still an overall good experience and I would go back. In the end the manager took all of our concerns into account and I felt heard by her. Lastly, the property is on a main street so it was a bit loud but it seemed worse on the weekends. "

"This is the second time I have rented Ebbtide. The first time was in 2017. Both experiences were excellent, but since then numerous improvements have been made to the screened porch and to overall furnishings and equipment. Ebbtide is the perfect beach front getaway. Beautiful sunrises and moonrises; quiet and serene; a sandy beach, blowing grasses, and of course the ocean and its wonderful roar!

Evelyn E. from Chapel Hill, 10/03/2020

"The house and owner were great. Had an issue and the owner had to get involved instead of the rental agency doing there job. I was promised by the rental agency that they would be there to meet the service provider when they arrived. The rental agency never showed, called or said they couldn't make it. Luckily someone happened to be at the house when the service provider arrived. Not thrilled with the rental agency whatsoever!!!"

Jason E. from GARDNERS, 10/20/2020

"We very much enjoyed our 3 week stay at Ebbtide while work was being done on our house."

Bill C. from Wilmington, 12/02/2020

"The LOCATION can’t be any better. The beach house is older but we spent most of our time on the beach anyway. We had everything we needed inside since we cooked most of our meals at home. We will definitely be going back and it was the perfect size for our group of 6."
