"Very good"

"We were pleased with the location of Island North-9. A few steps to the beach, fishing pier or the pool. The kitchen is well stocked, with newer appliances. The bathrooms, kitchen & furniture are dated. Not a problem for us, as we were out & about the majority of the week. The bed in the master is very firm. A/C works well. We did not find this unit to be overly clean. "

"Furniture was in bad shape and nasty, kitchen could use a remodel."

"The customer service team was very responsive to my last minute request that we appreciate. My comments on unit 9B:
The furniture was dirty to the point we had to put done towels before sitting in the chairs at the kitchen table and the living room.
Your information packet says no pets-the unit has had pets and we know because my wife is allergic and the she struggled with runny nose and itchy eyes. We couldn't use the comforter, because an animal had laid innit. The bath tub was dirty, no paper towels, and the pool was full of floating debris, we would NEVER rent another unit from Intercostal. A complete waste of our money. All the years we have rented in the area, we have never a bad experience like this before. I am very disappointed Dr. Greg "

"Great location, short walk to beach, nice views, quiet, CLEAN, kitchen well stocked. Only complaint - was told that it was a first floor condo and it turned out to be a second floor. "

"We enjoyed our stay overall, however, we found the multi-unit stay to be better suited for larger families with children (like most everyone else staying in this particular style of property.) As a couple looking for peace and quiet with view, we were pretty well sleep deprived after several nights of larger families with LOTS of kids running around morning noon and night both above and below us. There wasn't really even room in the pool during our full, week-long stay as it was full of the same people from sunup til as late as 1am. Not a big deal for those used to having kids around doing kid things (we just aren't.) This particular unit was super clean which we were relieved to find as the scent of the hallway leading up smells like 100 years of moldy beach feet (again, understandable, just tough to stomach.) Not sure when the last time the master mattress has been updated, and we would recommend bringing your own set of sheets for comfort. Everything in the unit worked well. The view is exactly as pictured. Another sleepless contributor was the massive construction happening right outside of the master bedroom starting super early in the morning... Really, really loud. Helen was glorious on the phone from the property management group, but nobody said as much as "hello" when we arrived and the same goes for leaving, not a single "how was your stay." So I'm all too happy to write this review since we were looking to purchase property and won't be doing so unless Helen goes rouge. Overall, a really nice location, very well kept space. "

"Nice place with a great view. The twin beds and couch bed could be replaced they are both in bad shape. The pool was dirty as well."

"Rented for UNCW Graduation Weekend. The location was great. There were some overall updates to the condo but in general it still needs work and was disappointing. We entered to find a dead roach and large living spider. We woke up the next morning to living roaches (one crawled across my mother's head on the couch). We called to have the condo re-serviced but continued to find roaches, spiders and other bugs throughout our stay. This put a huge damper on the vacation as we were afraid for the food and what not we brought. I had nightmares about the bugs. : ( My children slept on pullout couch and the linens were stained and the mattress was awful. I understand perhaps some hardships in the area from the hurricane but the issues we had were overall cleanliness and conditions inside. We wanted to bring our dog but the cost was prohibitive - only to find other pet stains that were never cleaned up.... why charge excessive fees then. The kitchen cabinets were old and dirty. Due to the bugs were were afraid to use anything. There were only 4 glasses and 4 coffee mugs. The listing stated queen, full and twin bed... there was NO twin. We enjoyed our stay because we were there with family and for graduation but not certain I would ever rent this again unless I knew changes were made. OH and the bottom lock to the door.... took 10 minutes (Sweating mind you) trying to unlock. There was a screw in the way. After 2 incidents we only locked the dead bolt. Needs work!!"

"The condo had a great view easy access to the beach. It was clean and simple on the inside.
The only down side is the steps to get up to the condo.!
But overall our family and our dog enjoyed our vacation!"

"Love the location & being pet friendly. Great views, great pool. Property management team was friendly and helpful. Condo was run down and dingy. Saw a couple questionable bugs in the kitchen but a pest guy did come to treat the condo while we were there. "

Terrian C. from Paris, 07/29/2019

"The location was perfect for us. The condo was clean and well equipped. The rental is in need of work, as with the neighbors above, remodeling during our stay with hammering and loud workers."

Trish H. from Banner Elk, 07/29/2019

"We were very disappointed when we arrived to our condo. We immediately noticed a strong odor as we open the door that lead us into the stairway to our condo. I assumed that was just from lack of air flow but, I soon realized it was I was wrong. Our condo had a strong odor that literally made me gag. The carpet and chair were dirty and in desperate need of a shampoo. The walls had black spots in several areas. The blinds were filthy. There were lights bulbs blown out. When I called the office Derek sent the maintenance man Russ over immediately. Russ was very kind and understanding. He then had the supervisor Mary Ellen call me and she was one of the rudest people I’ve ever had to deal wit. She was argumentative and confrontational. She argued ever complaint. All she would have had to do was send someone over to clean and deodorize the condo. I’m not difficult to please but she just made it worse. I had to clean and deodorize the condo and place sheets over the furniture to make it somewhat ok for my family. First visit on this vacation was Walmart for cleaning supplies. We saved to take this vacation and now we were hundreds of miles from home and completely disappointed. Our son currently lives in Wilmington and we have full intentions on visiting again in December however, we have no intentions to ever rent from this company.
Mary Ellen did call after our first conversation to offer to have someone clean the furniture and floors the next day. This is probably because I made it clear how unhappy I was with her customer service.
The cleaners were only able to come out the next morning but my family were sleeping after traveling all day the day before. Derek helped by sending over extra sheets to cover the furniture.
Please note that Derek and Russ were very kind and understanding. Even though there was nothing they could do, they made the situation more comfortable to deal with. Just some understanding and kind words go along way."

"This location was amazing! We were able to sit in the living room and watch the ocean from the couch."

Sarah W. from West jefferson, 06/23/2020

"We loved the location, although it wasn't as secluded as we would've liked. It had a pool and was right on the beach and we could take our dog onto Freeman park any time of day. Loved it"

"This condo was everything that we were looking for. My boys and I come to Carolina Beach every year to visit my family. The condo was clean and spacious, and had all the necessities. The location was perfect for us at the quieter end of the beach. And the mgmt company was friendly and professional. We will definitely stay here again."

Amy P. from Carbondale, 08/03/2020

"The first thing we noticed was the horrible smell in the stairwell. The condo itself was nice, a bit outdated. The coffee maker had mold in the reservoir, so had to buy one to use. The pet fee was extremely high. The pool was dirty and small. It was hard to find time to get into the pool as it was so small and only 4 people were allowed in the pool at a time due to COVID. When I had originally asked about the pool the reality company told me the pool was open to use at your own risk. They never told me that there was only 4 allowed in at a time.

Overall, was very close to the beach. We made it through the hurricane and made plenty of family memories. "

"Enjoyed the condo and facilities. 3 reasons why I can't give the place 5 stars is that: 1) Parking was awful! People with trucks should be warned and/or given a better option than just underneath in those spaces; 2) The water smelled like ROTTEN EGGS! Had to use bottled for everything. Other condo stayers said the same; 3) Wish we would have know that the beach was eroded. Work around of walking down that rocky place with all our beach equipment was terrible and dangerous. That last reason alone is why we will likely not return. Unrealistic to expect people to hike over sharp rocks to get to the beach."

"Rented this place for a month and had to extend another week because it was so nice and calming. Views of the beach from the balcony and a very short walk to the beach. The pier is also right there which has pretty good food. It's just far enough from the main strip that it is very quiet. Property managment company was very responsive when needed which wasn't much. Highly recommend! "

"We spent 5 months renting this condo over the winter. The location of the property was obviously the main driving factor, and exceeded all expectations. Unfortunately, the HOA for the property - Network Real Estate - is extremely incompetent, and left serious safety hazards unattended. We tried to contact them several times as did Intracoastal Realty, and they ignored all requests. The common areas are in shambles, and we had absolutely no lighting (including emergency lighting) in the common stairwell for almost a full week at one point. Things got so bad that we contacted the town manager after 4 days without electricity to finally get any lighting restored. Ultimately, as much as we enjoyed our stay in Carolina Beach, we will NEVER stay at any property that Network Real Estate has anything to do with again, and hope that nobody else falls victim to their criminal negligence.
