This is a beautiful, well equipped and comfortable home. This is our third time renting this house and I hope we have the opportunity to rent it many more times. Great location, fantastic views and plenty of space. We had a great time. Thanks so much.

This was our second year staying here and once again, it didn't disappoint. We had 10 of us total with plenty of room to stretch out. The house has wonderful views of the ocean, as well as the sound. Our bed was extremely comfortable. So much so, I'd love to know the brand (we were in the full bed room with the ocean view). We're planning to return next summer! Note for owners: Please check the right side garage door as you're facing the house. It was making a grinding noise when it opened and closed.

This was our 7th straight year vacationing for a week in this wonderful house. We've always loved it for many reasons, including its spaciousness, wonderful views, its access to the beach and the channel. Beach access was made more difficult this year by some beach front neighbors blocking long-used paths. We need to improve this.

We had a great spring break vacation here.
Pros—the house is laid out really well for two young families and grandparents.
Location is in a very quiet section of the beach which we loved. I was happy to see the owners responded to an earlier review asking for new bedding in the master. There was a lovely new quilt provided.
Cons—we had some confusion about the beach access which hopefully will be worked out for future renters. The noise from the kitchen chairs over the room below is awful. It might help to have some lighter chairs there or some kind of rug underneath them. One of the faucets needed to be replaced as it was leaking.

Have rented this property for many years
On check in three was no WiFi, was not fixed until Monday, inconvenient as some had school work or online work.
Sensor for the TV remote was above the TV, requiring us to stand and hold the remote over our heads to change channels, was moved Monday as well
Otherwise we had a great week as usual and will continue to rent

We LOVE this house. It is spacious, nicely furnished, lots of parking, beautiful decks on which to relax and view the area. It is near access to the beach (the Big Beach; the ocean) and also has a "little beach" on the Channel for the toddlers to enjoy with no waves. The gazebo on the Channel is perfect for sunset viewing at the end of the well-spent day.

This was our 6th year staying at this great home perfectly located in Wrightsville Beach. It's perfect for our family, The only negative was a broken dishwasher for the entire week, despite efforts by maintenance and local appliance guys to fix it. Not good given heightened need for sanitation this year.

We could not have been happier with The Schmid House for our vacation at Wrightsville Beach. It is in the perfect location and wonderful for a large family group. We loved having both the ocean and sound views and the short & easy walk to the beach. We have been coming to Wrightsville Beach for many, many years.... would highly recommend this house and would definitely rent again.

This home is perfect for a family that wants to be together at the beach and have access to both the ocean and the channel. Big kids can play in the waves and surf and little ones can enjoy the beach at the dock on the channel. Sunsets are great there for everyone, too. The deck is a wonderful place to gather and even eat dinner together. We love this home.

Great layout of a house. Large family room, den, dining area and kitchen are located between the bedroom floors. Top floor bedrooms have private decks with unobstructed views of the ocean and boats on the causeway. Long porch off main floor, with lots of rocking chairs, invites you to hours of rocking and conversation.

This home is a fantastic place to stay at the beach. The deck off the main floor is a wonderful place to congregate and share time with family. The channel "little beach" is great for small tykes with no waves to knock them down, while the older ones can go to the ocean side on a path just a couple doors down the street. Unit itself has everything you could need.

This is a stunning house with equally beautiful views. We felt we had the best of both worlds with the ocean in front of us and the sound at the back of the house. Perfectly located in quaint, family neighborhood where we felt safe letting kids play in front of the house while we watched from upper deck. Mornings were spent on the beach immediately in front of the house, then back to the house for lunch on the deck and outdoor showers. Early evenings, we packed a cooler and went out to the dock (kids loved playing on the smaller ‘beach’) before walking to dinner at the Oceanic or Tower 7. The proximity to all activities was unmatched to any other beach rental in the past. We did not drive the entire week outside of our single trip to grocery store. We even found an adorable coffee/beer shop above Southend surf shop (called SUNdays) just across the st from Oceanic. The owners clearly take close care of the house which was clean and stocked with all the basics (kitchenware etc). The photos online accurately portray the large, open living spaces, which has not been the case with other homes we have visited. This is the easiest choice we’ve made on a rental home and will certainly be back next year!

This is our third year at the Schmid home. We participate in the Ironman NC race. The Schmid home is beautiful. The location is convienent and perfect for our needs. The views from the home are amazing. We especially enjoyed sitting on the porches on the main level in the evening. All systems of the home worked well: plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. We are definitely
planning a return trip in 2018. A few suggestions: make sure all light bulbs are working-a few were burned out and I replaced them-no big deal but important, same goes for 9 volt battery in smoke detectors-I replaced one, please consider replacing bedspread in master downstairs, please inventory the cookware-ie need more baking dishes and pans, and lastly please replace the deadbolt lock on the main entrance-it works but you have to jiggle the key in order to operate the lock. All in all a wonderful home and I would recommend the Schmid home to anyone looking for a great vacation home. Very positive experience.

Wonderful beach house, spacious and well equipped. We took our 3 children and their families, including 3 grandchildren under the age of 5. The location was great, easy access to the beach and the sound. The kids loved catching fish and crabs off the dock. There were chairs and beach toys in the garage. We would return in a heartbeat.

An outstanding vacation destination! Actually, we had our wedding on the front porch...PERFECT! Beautiful, spacious, and immaculate with awesome views of the beach and the sound. The views off the third floor balconies are awe inspiring. We have had several vacations here, including stays in the spring and fall. The spacious and beautiful home has allowed us to have many family members and friends become a part of our wonderful vacation. Would highly recommend this house as an idyllic vacation experience!!!

Overall the experience was fine. There were however some items that could be resolves for future bookings. We originally thought it was a stand alone house with views of the ICW. Instead we were on the back part facing Lumina Street with little to no views of the ocean...our views were old beach homes. Also our dishwasher did not work so we ended up handwashing all weekend which was an inconvenience. The house needs updating, but other than those items the facility itself was fine for our needs

We are sorry that the guest was not satisfied with the views. After checking our web page photos and visiting the house, we found that the photos very accurately reflect the actual views from the house and the decks. Regarding the secondary water views of the ICW, the primary view for this house is the ocean, which is why it is grouped with the Ocean View homes. This house happens to have water views in many directions, but the ocean is the main water view. We are sorry that the guest had issues with the dishwasher. The item has been checked and is working properly. We appreciate the feedback and hope to have them again.

This beautiful house is ideal for a ideal stay at the beach. The living floor has open space, the kitchen is well equipped and the large deck is a great place to visit both day and night. The gazebo on the channel affords spectacular views of the sunset plus a quiet little beach for small children. The access to the ocean is only a few feet away from the house. Can't be beat!

We love this house! We have been renting this house every year for the past 8 years. It is a perfect location for access to the sound and beach. The house has an added feature of an elevator which is wonderful for my handicap father in law. The owners are have supplied the house with all beach equipment needed. It would be nice however if they would update the bedding. The mattress pads are awful and never stay on the beds even under the sheets. I have resorted in bringing my own which makes packing very cumbersome.

This home is a wonderful place to vacation and enjoy the beach. It is close to the entry to the beach and has access to the channel with an ideal beach for little children and a gazebo for watching the sunset. It has lots of gathering space and kitchen supplies abound. Two TV's allow for adult and child watching at the same time. Ideal rental.

We have stayed at The Schmid many times. The last time was about 8 years ago. As much as we love the house, location and lay out of the house, it does need to be updated a bit. Also, the owners need to consider buying another trash container (one that the garbage collectors pick up). One trash container for a house that sleeps at least 10 people is not enough. With all that said, we WILL be back next year!

Trash is picked up 2 days/week on the island and the owner now had two trash cans at the house. We discussed updating the TV's in the house at the beginning of the season, that will defintiely go a long way in the 'updating' section of this review. -MKR 7/15/13

This home is beautiful and just a short walk away from the beach. It was nice to have access to the dock for paddle boarding and Kayaking. We ultimately took the mattress off the pull out couch to rest more peacefully. The front deck space is large and accomodating for larger crowds.

We love the Schmid house. We had stayed there before several years ago.
We had a large group and it was great. I like that end of the island.
Lots to do but not in the middle of the busiest part.
We had a boat and the dock was very nice.

Overall, a very nice location and property. Due to ages of ours family members one of our main requirements was a functional elevator. This requirement was not met. Although the owner stated the elevator/door/safety switch was recently repaired, we spent a considerable amount of time diagnosing/repairing the switch to enable safe transport. Lucky we had 3 mechanics in the group. We were successful, and as we explained to the owner, but not sure this qualifies for a relaxing stay... Recommendation from my mechanics... the hollow core door flexes too much and allows safety switch incomplete closure... perhaps a more rigid or solid core door would be beneficial.

Schmidt was a clean rental but not the house it was advertised to be. Yes, it has a dock but you cannot even see the dock or the bay from the house. You have to walk around another house to get to the bay. This was very awkward. We were told by staff it had a grill but it does not. One entire deck did not have furniture so was useless. No chairs in any bedrooms. Very limited furniture throughout entire house. We could have booked oceanfront for the same cost but chose this house for the bay and the dock. The fact that we couldn't see the dock or bay from the house was not mentioned in the rental description. We were told Intracoastal rental has new management I am not sure if that is making things better or worse? We have lived/visited on Wrightsville for 52 years
