Watch Hill

Watch Hill was the perfect house for our girl's weekend; There were (9) of us. There is plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. The porches are amazing! We spent one day sunning on the porch enjoying the breeze. Great location! Great house!

This is a terrific house with beautiful ocean views from inside and out. It has two really nice porches and a nice, comfortable, upstairs living area. It also has a good barbecue area, complete with a separate deck picnic table, also with ocean views. They just need to buy beach chairs and it would be perfect.

Watch Hill is where you want to stay if you enjoy great views. Many stairs are involved so not for those with bad knees. The stove top was locked and you’re not allowed to use the elevator but that did not deter us from enjoying our stay. We cooked in another house that my daughter was staying in. The security alarm woke us up one morning when the shower was in use. We were told to run the vent when showering but it is not in working order. There is no code to shut off the alarm so just wait until the island security arrives. The home has many outdoor areas to enjoy. Bring towels and/or chairs as there are neither at the house. Two living areas was a plus and the layout of the house couldn’t have been better.

Watch Hill is in a perfect location close to several beach accesses on South and East beach. The reverse floor plan gives truly amazing panoramic ocean views and there are multiple decks from which to enjoy them. Overall the house is appointed very well and has a nice feel and the spaces work well for a large group. We did have some issues during our stay (beach towels, appliance issue and golfcart battery) but these thing happen and the office was always very responsive and corrected things. The issue of the driveway needs to be resolved with gravel or paving but even after that there will be a bit of a hike to the house. We used a golf cart to get our luggage and provisions up to the house. Also, as noted by others, the fridge is not huge so if you are a large group plan to put drinks in a cooler on the porch. Would stay here again.

Overall, we had a great stay. Watch Hill is in a great location, close to beach access, great views from the house, great interior spaces for a large group holiday. The vacation rental staff were very responsive addressing several issues which arose during our stay. The house was mostly clean when we arrived, except for a tub of trash and unfinished laundry in the laundry room when we arrived. Also, the water was turned off when we arrived. We do think the property would benefit from some maintenance, however. For instance, when we tried to open the double-hung window in one of the bedrooms, the top half of the window crashed down to the sill. A lamp in one of the bedrooms was dead-replacing the light bulb didn’t help.the shower head in one of the bathrooms only drips. There was no trash pan in the house. The bedroom doors to the deck in one room don’t open, and in the other bedroom,they had to be forced. It was obvious the windows had not been washed recently- they need a good cleaning. The batteries in one golf cart could no longer hold a charge and had to be replaced during our stay. These are small things, but show that the property could use some TLC and a good working over by a handy person, which would make Watch Hill really shine.

We so enjoyed our stay at Watch Hill. The view is amazing and the home is beautifully furnished with lots of lovely details including comfortable beds. Lots of light and lovely places to sit and so close to the beach. There are lots of stairs which can be a challenge for arrivals and departures with luggage. And a few details that need some attention. When we saw that there is actually an elevator, we were so relieved until we learned it is out of service with no plans by the owner to fix it. It's a shame as we were traveling with an individual with special needs and that would have been so helpful. Also there were some broken blinds and door locks which were a little inconvenient. The management company went above and beyond to help us out in many ways and were always friendly. Still thinking about that lovely vacation though....love Watch Hill.

We arrived during the week of the upcoming hurricane so I am going to give the house cleaners some grace especially during Covid. The patio furniture was almost all broken and the cushions were filthy and need to be thrown away. The dishwasher was full of clean dishes and I mean full and the microwave smelt like burnt popcorn. The outside shower was just gross and all of the beach chairs need to be thrown away. There is an elevator but renters cannot use it. One of the golf carts will not charge and so being it was just our family of four, that was alright because it comes with three carts. The property management company was amazing and very helpful. They gave us back $800 for our trouble and I would advise the owners to spend some money to make this house a better rental. There were light bulbs out and the fans upstairs look very unique but are extremely loud and so even without air we never turned them on. We would not go back to this house but will for sure rent again on the island.

We had a great time and loved the layout of the house and the views. The only real issue is getting your luggage etc up that big hill and then getting up the stairs. And getting the cooler and other kitchen stuff up the stairs. It would be nice to have access to the elevator to take up the heavy items...we are older and it was a challenge.
